Arturo Herrera’s work takes an open-ended and indeterminate approach to the creative process, while producing images rooted in the real world. Each work treats these elements with care and freedom, using an apparently abstract language.

Keep in Touch is an artist’s book that explores a recent series of collages, employing orchestrated found material. The artist selected illustrations from children’s books, modified them, and commissioned a professional illustrator to repaint them using an airbrush. Each scene was produced five times. Herrera then added abstract collage elements—hand-painted, hand-colored, and hand-drawn—on top of these images, creating 65 distinct works characterized by poetic and thought-provoking juxtapositions.
