The catalog accompanies the first solo exhibition of Brazilian artist Jac Leirner (born in 1961) in Scotland, combining works from important collections with new works created specifically for the Fruitmarket audience.
The exhibition includes Little Light, a work made with a light bulb and several kilometers of copper wire; Corpus Delicti, an installation that connects the boarding passes of the planes with the ashtrays taken from the planes on which the artist flew; Skin (Randy King Size Wired), an ethereal grid made up of hundreds of cigarette papers and 120 Cords, a work made up of many one meter lengths of different color and type of rope that Jac Leirner managed to find. To these works is added a selection of luminous watercolors, small works in which the artist superimposes a limited selection of colors on each other with the same additive aesthetic that informs his sculptures.
