Galleria Franco Noero is pleased to announce the performance by the artist from Taiwan Yahon Chang, which will be hosted in the Gallery space in via Mottalciata.
The gallery will open to the public from 6 pm, the performance will start at 7 pm.
The existence of human beings is related to God, whereas the extinction of animals is related to humans. Yahon Chang’s impromptu painting performance at Galleria Franco Noero is a live dialogue between the painter's creative actions and the gallery space.
In both the large and small spaces of the gallery, the painter will break through traditional ink painting techniques, explain his concerns and thoughts on the life issue of "existence and extinction".
The creative theme in the main space of the Gallery is "Compassion: The Light of Creation", which is intended to present his contemporary interpretation of "the creation of the world".
The theme of the side space is "Helplessness: The Blackness of Horror", which is intended to show the melancholy and anxiety of endangered wild animals.
Yahon Chang’s artistic creation has long focused on the modern experimentation and expression of traditional Chinese ink painting, as well as the concern and expression of contemporary nature, especially the two issues of "alienation of humanities and society" and "deterioration of environment and ecology".
As a devout Christian, Yahon prefers to use the "crazy breaking brush/flying ink" technique that combines calligraphy and painting in his personal physical and mental practice to achieve spiritual content through improvisation, engages in dialogue with God, and is committed to using ever-changing methods and concepts to interpret various visual images of God as Creator, Sacrifice, and Redeemer.
On the other hand, Yahon grew up in a rural village during the agricultural era and now lives in a modern city with developed industry and commerce. Yahon’s concern for the deterioration of the ecological environment also reflects his concern and portrayal of all living beings and vulnerable animals.
From early portraits of stray animals to recent paintings and sculptures with endangered animals as the theme, this is another creative route that he has been exploring with emotion while repeatedly painting various faces of Jesus the Savior in the past few years.
For this painting performance at Gallery Yahon will deliberately use the characteristics of ink painting tools and materials to create works full of oriental brush and ink charm to correspond to the pure white and bright space of the gallery, creating visual contrast, the ensemble of hardware and software, and the atmosphere of dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures.
