Andrew Dadson (White Rock, 1980) lives and works in Vancouver.
Dadson has consistently engaged with the notion of boundaries in relation to space and time in his work, primarily through investigations with materiality, process and abstraction. Through different mediums – painting, film, and photography – Dadson explores the possibility to cross the perceptual boundaries of space, both physical and natural, and is thus reflected in his work in an attempt to subvert our perception and usual ways of looking at things. His artwork reveals the limitations of such boundaries, and highlights the ability to question and overcome their existence.
His work has been shown in solo exhibition in international public and private Institutions, including: Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Salt Lake City, USA (2019); Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, Canada (2017; 2015); Contemporary Art Gallery, New York, USA; Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver, Canada (2015); F+F School of Art and Media Design, Zürich, Switzerland (2015); ReMap 4, Athens, Greece (2013); Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, USA (2010); Charles H. Scott Gallery, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, Canada (2007).
He has also taken part in many group exhibitions in Institutions such as: The Polygon, Vancouver, Canada (2017); Rennie Collection, Vancouver, Canada (2016); Metropolitan Art Society, Beirut, Lebanon (2015); Peep-Hole, Milan, Italy (2012); Museion, Bolzano, Italy (2010); Kunstverein Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany (2009); National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada (2008); The Power Plant, Toronto, Canada (2005); Liu Haisu Museum, Shanghai, China (2004).
